I know for a fact that while my previous church employer may have spent $500,000 on a high end Meyer PA, that is one expense for something that will last 10 years or more, while their annual investment into community programs or other charitable organizations is in the millions of dollars per year. They get to this point by heavily investing in the communities. Also, let me say that the churches that can afford these types of systems didn’t get there by ripping people off or not investing in their communities. The idea that the church/leadership/elders/congregation or givers don’t know what they are buying or are getting ripped off is an absurd assumption made mostly by people who have negative views on church/religion and are looking for something to disagree with. I personally agree with the approach of most churches, and I was previously the production technical director for what many would call a “mega-church”. We work very hard to design systems that give the best quality for the budget that my clients have. By no means are they the cheapest systems, but they are far from the most expensive. We design and install systems that are appropriate for the size room/coverage/ style of the church.
